Gigio The Giant: ROUND of 16
This illustration is part of a series of five pieces created for the final stages of the UEFA Champions League. The series reacts to the standout moments, from the Round of 16 to the Final, but always through a different angle.
In this case, the story is built around the Round of 16: what everyone saw, what lives in collective memory, reinterpreted from another perspective. That is where the narrative takes shape, at the angle that turns a moment into history.
It gave me the idea that we could use that angle, but what if instead of seeing it from above as in this image, we view it as if the camera were focusing from the bottom left corner? It would help us see the faces of the two players more clearly, especially Donnarumma. Seeing and recognizing him from that angle would add incredible dynamism. It also allows us to see the teams in the background in a very secondary and blurred plane, but most importantly, it lets us view the architecture to set the scene at Anfield stadium with a sky that will help contrast the scene and center it on Donnarumma
